Complex trauma often results from repeated or prolonged exposure to emotionally overwhelming experiences, such as childhood neglect, emotional abuse, toxic relationships, or environments lacking safety and validation. Unlike single-event trauma, complex trauma affects brain development, nervous system regulation, attachment patterns, and self-identity over time.

Chronic trauma can dysregulate the autonomic nervous system, keeping individuals in a persistent state of fight, flight, freeze, or fawn responses. It can alter brain regions such as the amygdala (involved in fear processing), the hippocampus(related to memory and learning), and the prefrontal cortex (involved in decision-making and emotional regulation). These neurological changes can lead to heightened emotional reactivity, difficulty trusting others, self-doubt, dissociation, and challenges in forming secure relationships.

In therapy, I use trauma-informed and evidence-based approaches that integrate polyvagal theory, attachment theory, somatic awareness, and mindfulness-based techniques to support healing. Our work focuses on helping you:

  • Process and make sense of past experiences

  • Regulate your nervous system and emotional responses

  • Develop healthy coping strategies and emotional boundaries

  • Rebuild your sense of identity and self-worth

  • Rewire limiting beliefs and reclaim your inner strength
